Profile GeneratorIn the year 2005, we, Joshua Jones and Jason Compo, were working hard producing music under the name Glass Gentlemen . We had just picked up some new equipment and were finally making some huge progress towards a good, quality sound. We started getting excited and as the number of quality songs started to accumulate we began talks of making a full length album. Finally, after doing some research and a little soul searching, we realized that it was going to be very expensive. Furthermore, how were we going to convince someone to take a chance on us? During this time period, we also noticed the amount of mindless, heartless music that was being put out. I shouldn't say that in the past tense as it still prevails today. With this combination of events, Counterfeit Records was born. This label was created to support real, quality electronic music. Being fans of electronic music in various forms, we wish to support diverse styles: Electronica, Trip-Hop, various House, Ambient, Down-Tempo, Drum and Bass and so on. The difference is we wish to support the most real and genuine music in these genres. Our goal is not radio play, although if something from this label happens to get on the radio, that's fine too. However, that is not what this label is about.
