About Me

Pronounced: ASH-EE-TAK-A
Plague of Ashitaka came straight into the music scene in 2008 releasing their self-financed, long-awaited debut EP 'Taking Lives on Ancient Tides' recorded by Nick at Serafina Studios (Johnny Truant/Architects). Merging thoughtful personal experiences, a vast mix of influences and with an enthusiastic passion for Japanese culture and history, they aim to provide a new and exciting edge by mixing favoured genres into an apocalyptic rampage. We are molded by our enthusiastic and devoted qualities to our instruments, our eagerness to write music with a diverse, amiable sound and at the same time improving our personal abilities as musicians.

The band formed in 2007, working hard to form a mix of genres and technical dexterity which flow consistantly throughout songs. The idea was to create exciting and unexpected structures moulded with crushing grooves, keeping the listener on edge and would not specifically pigeonhole the band's sound. Since then the band have worked together excessively to produce a mass of material ready for production and in addition, completely self-financing recording, duplication, promotion, merchandise and artwork on all releases.

Local word of mouth and the passing of complimentary comments on their erratic, involving, unhinged crowd-pleasing shows and their own original cut on the competitive alternative industry has made a real impact on the band's fan base. The band decided on combining influences after hearing a large number of bands playing the same sound, without exciting changes. This preference provides the band to take different paths in the future and to create an exciting sound for forthcoming releases.

We play music we enjoy and don't claim to be pretentious about our abilities. We're just 4 guys making music we love and playing it for others to enjoy. If you don't like us, we don't give a shit. If you dig our sounds, then we love you :)
