| Freddie Smith and Ben Thomas met in late 2005 at the BRIT School of Performing Arts, studying music. Ben’s background in Rock and Blues made an exciting and original combination with Fred’s Celtic tunes, and they started writing and performing traditional pieces together. Previously, they had both really wanted to start playing Jazz after being inspired by Stephanne Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, but hadn’t yet found anyone to play with. Now was the perfect opportunity for them to really experiment with old and new Jazz styles, and so they set to work writing and developing their own, also doing a lot of work with a fellow classmate, Tom Driessler, on double-bass. Over the last two years they have played in venues such as the Royal Opera House, QE2, Grosvenor House Hotel, Leeds Castle and the House of Commons Jazz Club at Portcullis House, as well as pubs and music bars around London. Now they have left the BRIT School they are working on more and more material, taking influence from everything around them.
