El sonido: un relajado Reggae, Funk, Latino, Hip-Hop, Ska, y Cumbia, ademÃ¡s de otros ritmos eclÃ©cticos. En sus comienzos, Bachaco participÃ³ en eventos locales de importancia tales como el Festival Argentino y "Rock the Dock en EspaÃ±ol". En Octubre, la canciÃ³n "La Muerte" de Bachaco fue escogida como CanciÃ³n de la Semana por el programa de radio en "Rockea en EspaÃ±ol", en Maracaibo, Venezuela. TambiÃ©n se presentÃ³ como acto principal en el Carnaval de la Hispanidad de la Universidad Internacional de la Florida y en el escenario alternativo de los Viernes Culturales de Miami. En Noviembre, la agrupaciÃ³n fue seleccionada como Banda Latina y Reggae de la semana en la popular red social MySpace. Esta serie de eventos hicieron posible que Bachaco se uniera con la disquera independiente Don Nadie Music que ayudarÃa a Bachaco a lanzar su primer Ã¡lbum. En el 2008, Bachaco ha compartido escenarios con el Ganador del Grammy Jerry Rivera y el popular colombiano Checo Acosta en el Maroone HispanicFest 2008. TambiÃ©n se presentÃ³ en el Kaleidoscope Festival de West Palm Beach junto al reconocido Tito Puente Jr. y su orquesta. Incluso, la banda participÃ³ en el â€œafterpartyâ€ oficial del lanzamiento de MySpace Latino junto a la banda nominada al Grammy, Locos por Juana, quienes tambiÃ©n han cooperado en la producciÃ³n del primer Ã¡lbum de la banda; tambiÃ©n fueron seleccionados para abrir y cerrar el evento anual â€œRock the Dock en EspaÃ±olâ€. AdemÃ¡s, lograron ganar recientemente en Miami, la competencia â€œTu Ciudad, Tu MÃºsicaâ€ de Burger King, la cual le ofreciÃ³, entre otras cosas, varias entrevistas en televisiÃ³n y radio a nivel nacional. En estos momentos la banda se encuentra grabando su primer Ã¡lbum y se espera salga al mercado a mediados de 2008. Â¿Que significa Bachaco? (para los que no saben) Bachaco es el nombre que se da en Venezuela a las hormigas corta hojas. El mismo tipo de hormiga se encuentra a travÃ©s de la Selva AmazÃ³nica y en paÃses como PanamÃ¡, Colombia, Venezuela y Brasil. El insecto es usado por indÃgenas venezolanos para crear picante. Â¡Se puede decir que Bachaco es el picante de la mÃºsica hoy en dÃa! Bio: (english) Bachaco is a multicultural band formed by three Venezuelans, one Jamaican, one Colombian and guest musicians from all over the world!. "The band has an equally diverse set of musical interests and influences. The sound: a laid-back strain of reggae, Latin funk, hip-hop, ska, and cumbia, plus other, even more eclectic world rhythms. It's a formula that has worked perfectly so far. The minute the band was ready to play shows, it scored an opening slot in front of Latin Grammy nominees Locos por Juana, who, in turn, are helping out in the production of Bachaco's first album. The group has performed at local events such as the Argentinean Festival and Rock the Dock in Spanish. In October, the band's "La Muerte" was chosen as Song of the Week by Venezuelan radio show Rockea en EspaÃ±ol." (Source: Miami New Times) In addition, the group has performed at major events such as the Argentinean Festival, Rock the Dock in Spanish, Kaleidoscope Festival 2008 and has been the Main Act at Florida International University's annual Hispanic Heritage Carnival and Miami's renowned 8th Street "Viernes Culturales" (Alternative Stage) Recently they were featured on MySpace Latino music section for Latin/Reggae Band of the Week next to Latin Grammy winners Camila and renowned reggaeton artists Alex y Fido. As of now, the band is currently recording their first album and is expected for the fall of 2008. What is a Bachaco?(for those who don't know) The word Bachaco (BAH-SHA-KO) is the name given to a Leafcutter Ant in Venezuela. The same type of ant is found accross that Amazon Rainforest and in countries such as Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. He is not only able to play the Guitar but if you are lucky, youâ€™ll see him switch back and forth to the Trumpet as well. He also has a Rock band along with Domingo called â€œLast Summerâ€ in which he plays guitar and is the lead singer. Name: Matt / Role: Guitar and Vocals / Age: 17 / Hometown: Jamaica Bio: When it comes to guitar solos and making guitars cry this Jimmy Hendrix lover knows what he is doing. While he also adds his Jamaican feeling to the way he plays the guitar, the true Jamaican comes out when itâ€™s time for him to sing, he does all of the ragamuffin! Name: Bruce / Role: Trumpet and Vocals / Age: 17 / Hometown: Colombia Bio: Since playing trumpet was not enough, Bruce was given the task of being the MC and providing a hip-hop flavor to Bachacoâ€™s already hot music. This young promise of the trumpet was chosen one of the best trumpet players in all of Miami Dadeâ€™s County Public Schools. Name: Domingo / Role: Drummer / Age: 18 / Hometown: Venezuela Bio: He is also interchangeably called Sunday because of his Spanish name, but he is not as boring as most Sundays.
