About Me |
|
| Morrigan (Morrighan-Morrigna-Morrigu) is the Celtic goddess of war/death, fertility/birth, fate and magick. She represents the cycles of the universe. The triple spiral, life, death & rebirth.
The name itself has several different meanings, Mor'rigan:
"Great Queen", "Phantom Queen", "Faery Queen" and "Sea Queen(or from the sea)" Her symbol is that of a the carrion crow. She is a shape-shifter and will manifest in different forms, the cow, the horse, a sea-serpent, and most notably the crow. She is also the "maid-mother-crone" aspect, appearing as all 3 or one of the 3 or even as 3 old hags. In this myth she is known as the "Morrigu" and goes by 3 other names, Badb, Macha and Nemain. They all have seperet myths of their own(see blogs). While she does not directly engage into war, she does however guide those fallen on the battle field that are the most worthy. She also tells the outcome through her prophecies and my even influence who she choses to win.
The Morrigan is a very complex goddess who watches over the welfare & warfare of her people. She is the 'sovereigny' of Ireland. She controls the power of Fate. She is trinity combined in one and through her one can find many secrets. For within her is a great secret for those she comes to
