| Barry Syska is a musical artist who entertains a palette of many different styles. As a self-taught musician, one can hear reflections ranging from folk, jazz, blues, rock to vaudeville in his poetic storybook of flavors.From a low croon to a high smooth lullaby, he possesses a voice that carries listeners through a soundscape that is dreamy and whimsical one moment, and hauntingly mystical the next. His range is as wide and eclectic as his influences, spanning from Tom Waits, Jeff Buckley, and Nick Drake to name just a few. Various world influences such as Joel Gilberto have also inspired Syska in his guitar playing, singing and songwriting. Nonetheless, the style of this artist is hard to pinpoint and this is just part of what gives his music its intensity and unforgettable melody.Syska has a history of various musical endeavors such as Echoes, Good Night My Love, and most recently The Tongues. He has performed at venues from East to West, such as The Chance in NY, The Walnut Creek Amphitheater in NC, and The Great American Music Hall here in SF.Syska is currently working on his solo career, and is expanding into new directions with his recent new band The Tongues now working on new material for the next album.
