About Me |
|
| I started singing before I could talk. My dad, Karl Everett, played in a "Damned Old Bar" as my mom, Betty Lou, refers to it, about six nights a week when I was growing up. I didn't know there was any other type of music other than country until I was in middle school. Music is my dad's religion. I was taught to respect Haggard, Paycheck, Jones, Waylon, Gosdin, Billy Lindsey, and Dennis Adkins just to name a few.
When country music went to hell, I turned it off. I started listening to bluegrass, especially Rhonda Vincent. I started playing and singing with some friends and we called our band Cedar Creek. We had a lot of fun, but eventually called it quits.
Arthur Hatfield called me up and asked if I would like to join his band, Buck Creek. I've been playing with Buck Creek since 2003. I sing and try to play mandolin and bass.
Arthur played fiddle with my dad in the bars in the 70's. Arthur says that if you played bluegrass in those days you were considered an outlaw and made no money. I guess you still don't make much money.
Arthur is a true musician and craftsman. He plays banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and guitar. He builds Hatfield Banjos from his shop at his house. Check them out at www.hatfieldbanjos.com. He has sold them all over the world, but you would never know it by talking to him. He is a great person. His wife, Beverly, keeps everything together for us all!
Ricky Burch plays mandolin, fiddle, and guitar. Well actually he plays about everything. He has played professionally with Sonny James, Jerry Reed, and Kenny Baker. His brother is Curtis Burch who was a member of Newgrass Revival. Curtis plays with us when we beg him to! Ricky (aka Omer) is a little crazy....but that's why we love him!
Johnny Day plays upright bass. He is a fine bass player and a fine person. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to play with such great people! If nothing else, we always have a good time doing what we do!
