Click here to make your own!MySpace Cursors i used to manage a branch of the pineapple shop and i worked at 'practical stylng' for tommy roberts, where i developed a sense of design. at the same time as working for 'mr freedom', i had market stall in camden, selling designer womens clothes.i have been involved in professional film-making since the early 1980's. i used to be the technician for oxford film and video ltd - performing 1st-line maintenance of all 16mm and BVU equipment. then i worked for lambeth video ltd, first as a technician, then as administrator in charge of a grant-aid of 125k pa, overseeing a b10k bursery scheme and working as, variously, cinematographer, sound recordist, assistant editor and all-around production support - on 'a parable of fishes' by em kirkpatrick and 'such poor passion' by susan papas. i made various pop-promos and made the classic mistake of going to the sahara desert to make a film of my own - only a hearty lunch on you, followed by a big brandy, will co-erce me to re-live that particular experience.during the 1908's i was considered a bit of a hot-shot, in certain quarters, and was awarded several burseries by the british film institute - in film production, editing, cinematography, line-production, video-engineering and several others which i can't remember at the moment.i, then, studied theatre at morley college under brian croucher and 'retired' to wiltshire for ten years, where i worked on portfolios of artwork, five albums of my own music, learned web-design and partied a bit on the wiltshire free-party scene. i was a dj for a number of years, also. at first with dhe kath'e'lik klub - where our resident dj was jonathon moore - of coldcut and ninja-tune fame, LIMBO - at heaven - with DJ's maurice and noel, darlings of ID magazine, avalonbabylon at the blue note in hoxton - featuring youth and nelson dilation.having written 35 five-minute 'compressed-cinema' scripts - the copyright on the term compressed cinema is wholly owned by me, several feature-film scripts and some adapted screenplays, i am currently developing several productions as producer. this is an elliptical trajectory. when i began, i was just pre-producing my own screenplays, now i find myself proposing to/negotiating with national unions, the prime-ministers office and film-funding authorities to buy a studio.........and all i want to do is make films from my own writing.i am a member of bectu, the film technicians union - and was astounded to be offered the job of art director for a feature-film whose budget is less than 500k gbp - which is a laughably-small amount to spend on a feature whose producers might well end up making a small fortune, but whose workforce is likely to be flogged within an inch of their professionalism in order to get it made. for that little money, i'd rather be an arts administrator and remain stress-free.with 11 films in the can, i am producing cinema - not digital moving images - there's a difference. and when i am ready and have negotiated the appropriate distribution deals, my films shall be made available to the world. until then, my energy remains divided between my music, my writing, my art and my personal life.i love wine, good food, love and nurturing children.i have another two pages mellowscintillamusic and mellow_scintilla - both of which seem to have been hacked and their passwords changed, but feel free to visit them and to send friend requests. they are both still active, i just don't seem to be able to log-onto them at the moment. this will change, i'm sure. hostdrjack.comi have also written a stageplay - VOODOO CHILE AND THE JUPITER OF MUSIC - ostensibly about bad neighbours and how such conflicts might resolve themselves amicably, the play manifests itsellf as a meeting, through the psychedelic firmament, between james marshall hendrix and george friederich haendel - who both lived in the same london house in brook street, albeit some centuries apart. |
