En 1999, Remna crée une première collaboration avec cinq musiciens avant de s’orienter vers une musique plus acoustique. Il se recentre et se fait accompagner d’un seul percussionniste (Andrew Biyong). Il collabore aussi avec un bassiste vocaliste réunionnais répondant au nom d’Olivier Poulot, ayant à son panel une large contribution artistique à la scène orléanaise. Olivier étant influençé par la soul, le reggae, la funk et la musique traditionnelle réunionnaise, l’entente musicale est immédiate. La première prestation du trio est prometteuse. Aprés le départ d’Andrew Biyong, la formation fait la rencontre heureuse lors d’un festival d’un jeune batteur sénégalais du nom de Lamine “Sly” N’Diaye. Ses talents d’arrangeur, son expérience de la scène afro jazz et son goût pour la musique expérimentale tombent à pic. L’aventure débute alors… First collaboration is set up in 1999 with five local musicians before the reorientation towards acoustic music. Remna peforms alone or with just a percussionist. A collaboration with a bass player from the Isle of Reunion (Olivier Poulot) is made. This guy has paid a large artistic contribution to the city of Orleans. Being influenced by soul, reggae, funk, and traditional music from Reunion, the symbiosis is immediate.The band comes across a drummer from Senegal (Lamine "Sly" N'Diaye) during a festival his talents for arrangements, his experience in the afro jazz and his taste for experimental music are appreciated. After getting hold of some keys, the band rehearses hours and hours trying to make their music sound like no one else's. The hours of work come from the idea of showing in a very subtle way the musical evolution of the African continent throughout the world today… |
