| THE YEAR AHEAD in 2008... NEW SINGLE OUT NOW!!!THE BIG PAYBACK, Martha’s new single and tribute to James Brown is now also available on iTunes and at http://cdbaby.com/cd/marthahigh Well another exciting year is to come... Martha will continue to fly HIIIIGGGGHHH!!!Martha is going back into the studio to finish her new album which is certainly shaping up to be seriously funky! Produced by TYRONE JEFFERSON, the album will include collaborations with many celebrated artists from Martha’s 40 years in funk. It will feature her recent single, and tribute to James Brown, PAYBACK. The album is due to be released in March 2008. A remix of PAYBACK, produced by MORRIS HAYES of Prince and the NPG, is available to listen to here on Myspace. Martha will then again be on the road with the legendary Maceo Parker, across the USA and Europe. Check out the dates below. Martha has also recorded a live album with the Shaolin Temple Defenders. To support this album release, they will be touring around France and other parts of Europe. In the summer, Martha will be performing at various festivals both in Europe and the USA. BIOGRAPHY... Martha High was born in Victoria, Virginia but grew up in Washington DC. She would sing around the house all the time and obviously had a gift. At school, Martha auditioned for ’THE JEWELS’ and wowed them with her blessed talent. Having recorded a national hit, The Jewels went on tour to elite nightclubs and theatres on the East Coast of America. It was here that Martha and The Jewels caught the eye and ear of JAMES BROWN. Soon they became his opening act and travelled extensively with his revue. Their first album debut with James Brown was in 1967 - The James Brown Show on the Smash label. Mr. Brown recorded and release several songs featuring The Jewels until the group disbanded. After the break up, Martha stayed with James Brown and continued to work with him as his personal background vocalist for over 25 years!!! A length unchalleged by any other... In her time with him she led newly formed groups that included The Soul Twins, Martha and the Honeybees, Martha and the Lazers and finally, The Bittersweets. Over the years she has had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the greatest Afro-American artists such as LITTLE RICHARD, JERRY LEE LEWIS, THE TEMPATAIONS, Original Soul Sister ARETHA FRANKLIN, GEORGE CLINTON, B.B. KING, MARY J BLIGE, Stevie Wonder…and even with the famous British combo,THE POLICE. Indeed, this Funky Diva appeared on many funky masterpieces such as PAYBACK, BODYHEAT, DOIN’ IT TO DEATH and on the unforgettable duet with James Brown himself, SUMMERTIME. Martha went on to record ’It’s Hustle Time (I’m Not Braggin’)’ along with a live album entitled ’Martha High live at Quai Du Blues’. Rave reviews spread to fans in Europe, Japan and South America and Martha toured with sold out performances. In 2000, Martha also appeared with legendary MACEO PARKER and his band as a featured vocalist. Martha has since continued to tour the world with ’The Teacher’. In 2007... In 2007, Martha has had a solo tour around France with the Shaolin Temple Defenders. Other solo performances include guest appearances with the TC Gang in Rome, Italy and opening for Sly & The Family Stone in Paris. In December she toured Europe with Pee Wee Ellis as part of their Funky Christmas Gospel Tour.
