About Me

I was born in a place not too far from where I am now at what is increasingly becoming a long, long time ago. Being no use whatsoever in gainful employment I gravitated towards art and music, those being the only fields that would have me, and have been employed by myself ever since.I followed the usual paths through art college and on leaving had several jobs before working as a musician in various bands and studios - I travelled extensively and wrote many songs - some good, some best forgotten - and it is a love that has stayed with me to the extent that I still play, write and drive people mad, with varying success, to this day.As far as the artwork is concerned, I work with many different media from traditional inks, acrylics, watercolours etc., to digital (mainly Photoshop and Illustrator). I try to use approaches that will suit whatever I am illustrating and some will be dictated by print or reproduction requirements. I also lecture in computer illustration techniques at Neath Port Talbot College, South Wales. I'd like to say that I teach for the sheer fulfilment and gratification of educating willing minds - but really it's for the money!

Scarey? Feck that!!

Well another Halloween has come and gone. The neighbourhood children, dressed in very poor costumes, have extorted sweets from frightened pensioners, and the Goths are just relieved it's all over so ...

Where have all the rockers gone?

Please can somebody tell me where all the genuine rock and roll stars have gone? No, I don't mean the squeaky clean, vapid warblers that currently dominate the music charts. I mean the bad boys and gi...

Were all going to die - very soon apparently!

The UK government is to extend the smoking ban to include private residences. An official document to this effect was discovered in one of the wheelie bins at the Treasury car park by a homeless man l...

Pineapple ringtones anyone?

After the last ruling Tory party, headed by Margaret 'man in drag' Thatcher, privatised our railways, power and water; they were probably content in the knowledge that they had sold off everything wor...

Hell is other people.

'Hell is other people' wrote Jean-Paul Sartre. The line appears in his play 'No Exit' and, you know what, that single line has always resonated with me. 'Other people' always get in the way. Now, by o...

The Dating Game

People often ask me why I am still single, as if it's some terrible affliction like, 'Oh my God, how did you get rabies?' I really don't know the correct response to this question. I guess I just hav...

I survived the mountains - hurrah!

Back from the mountains in one piece (just!) and missing them already. Slovakia is a truly beautiful place and one that I would recommend to anyone. We were invited over by a couple of friends who had...

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the whole of society seems to be seriously dumbing down? 'I blame the media' seems to be the usual response to this. Intellectuals have long expressed co...
