ME, MYSELF & MY MUSIC: I've been playing piano since I was a little lass growing up in New Zealand. I grew up playing in competitions right left and centre, wanting to become a renowned concert pianist. That didn't happen when I realised I really didn't like piano scales ever since I reached grade 7 with the London Royal School of Music. So off I went and experimented with jazz bands playing keys and piano. I started to dabble in singing through choirs and bands. When I realised it was a big release of expression for me, I got serious about singing and studied voice through various teachers, also started to utilise that through singing for weddings mainly! At 16 I started writing songs and realised that I loved it. Continued it ever since. These days I live and breathe Melbourne :) Here I trained with the David Jaanz School of Singing, and have done a few performances (yet more to come). I have most recently been working in the studios for the past year or so with the amazing producer Jhay C, and in the past few months we have come up with a set of new soul/r'n'b tracks. Of course I did not forget the pianist inside of me, I let her play piano for the songs. Here are some of the tracks on this page. I love love love making music and delivering the story through my voice. I am starting my long road to make this happen on an everyday basis!! Influences: Vocally, I have always been inspired by female vocal legends, those who can actually sing outside the recording studio and get it right on stage at first take, technically, and at the same time they can deliver each song in a way that is emotionally transparent: Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Jaci Velasquez, Christina Aguillera ... Musically, my inspiration comes from anything SOULFUL, music that grabs my attention, and for anything to really grab my attention, I need to be thinking while I'm hearing it, "Damn, they really mean it!": Jazz, Nu-Jazz, Contemporary Gospel, Blues, Soul R&B ...
