Sebastian is a drummer from Heidelberg/Germany, teaching as well as working live and in the studio.
Born in Baden Württemberg/GER in December 1983, he attended music school at the age of 4, learning first steps in musical theory and taking lessons with different teachers. Being 10 years old, his focus shifted to the drums – an instrument he has been taken in and fascinated by from the first moment on, which hasn’t changed ever since. Drumming is not only a way to express himself musically, it’s a passion.
Having played in different orchestras and a music school bandproject, Sebastian joined his first rock band at the age of 14, played gigs throughout the local club scene and took lessons with German drummer/teacher Tom Zimmermann. At the same time, he started out playing Jazz, Funk, Fusion and Latin with an ensemble called “Jazzcombo”, developing not only his technique on the drumset but also opening his mind to new styles.
Since then, he has worked with numerous bands and musicians, live as well as in the studio, in different styles and musical contexts, from small clubs to huge concert halls, touring and playing in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, England, France and Belgium. Besides being an active live and studio musician, he also played the drums in two musicals.
From 2007 to 2008 Sebastian studied in Brighton/South England and worked with different musicians around Brighton and London.
After returning from the UK, he joined Downspirit, a Swiss/German blues/metal/rock band, featuring musicians from „Symphorce“/Ex-„Freedom Call“/„Pump", and currently works as session drummer and drum teacher.
