| Since the early nineties,Hip-hop music has taken a hold among the youth of Guinea, despite some major obstacles that has attempted to stop it.Some of these obstacles include poor juvenile infrastructure,joblessness,high cost of living,poverty,and misery,among other things.
It is during this euphoria that the group "METHODIK" emerged on the 09 of March,1996 to offer it's modest contribution in harmonising the mentality of not only the Guinean or African youth,but also the youth of the world,through their musical message.Their debut album: "NONDI KIRA",which means :"the path to truth", was released in 2004. This album earned them the award for "Best rap album in Guinea".In it, they talk about the hardships of the youth in Guinea and Africa. They cover subjects such as corruption,poverty,health,women's rights and so on. Infact, many observers relate this album to the popular up-rising in Guinea early 2007 that led to the nomination of a new Prime Minister of consensus.The group has just concluded recording their up-coming album titled:"SOWETO",in remembrance of the black school children that were massacred in the South African Township of Soweto in the seventies.It is a very unique album and one that will definately move the group to the next level.Unlike the previous album that was done entirely in Conakry,Guinea,this album has a more international feel,with flavas from Guinea,Senegal,and the U.S. It also covers more diverse subjects;from socially conscious songs like "soweto",Birin" or "Passager Clandestine"(Illegal Immigration",to club bangers like "North and South","Love Bare'"and "Dans La Place"(In the spot).The album is scheduled to be release in April this year.Stay in touch for more details!
