Born in Birmingham in 1961, Roland was raised in Hull and there formed his first band 'The Acrylykz' during the late 70's British Ska boom.In 1984 he joined David Steele and Andy Cox of 'The Beat' in forming the 'Fine Young Cannibals' and released an album of the same name. The second FYC album 'The Raw and the Cooked' achieved bigger international success - selling over 10 million copies worldwide with two number one singles in the United States of America, and where the album remained at number one for three months.FYC released their swan song "The Flame" in 1996 it reached number 7 and was included on their greatest hits album 'The Finest'.Roland released his first solo album 'Roland Gift' in 2002, featuring the single 'It's only Money'.He lives in London and is currently working on a second solo album check out the demos. | |
