About Me |
|
Max von Mosch was born 1980 in Starnberg and grew up in Munich, Germany. He started playing the piano and composing at the age of 8. At the age of 11 he discovered the saxophone and was soon playing in various professional ensembles in Munich. In 2000 Max was accepted to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he studied saxophone and composition until graduation with a Master Diploma in 2006. During this time he also participated in the exchange program to the Universität der Künste Berlin in 2002 and to the Manhattan School of Music in New York in 2005. Max has been studying with various artists such as Dick Oatts, Ferdinand Povl, Jasper Blom, Peter Weniger, Jurre Haanstra and Michael Abene. His quartet max.bab, founded in 1999, has been the most significant one among numerous projects, with over 300 concerts and live-broadcasts and five record releases during the past nine years. In 2007 max.bab was invited to play at the international JazzBaltica and Montreal Jazz Festival. In 2006 Max started writing music for a setting of ten musicians, comprised of two trumpets, two trombones, three saxophones and rhythm section. You are listening to some of his music for ten-piece ensemble on this website, live-recorded in Amsterdam and New York. Max played with renowned musicians such as Charlie Mariano, Johannes Enders, David Friedman, Frank Möbus and Wolfgang Muthspiel. As a composer he wrote for different ensembles and orchestras such as the Rotterdamse Jazz Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. Max was accepted to the Doctoral of Musical Arts Program (Composition) at the New England Conservatory in Boston which he will be starting in fall 2008. |
