I am the author of twenty-two novels - including the Vorkosigan Saga books - and winner of two Nebula Awards for Best Novel (Falling Free and Paladin of Souls ), four Hugo Awards for Best Novel ( Paladin of Souls , The Vor Game, Barrayar, and Mirror Dance), as well as the Hugo and Nebula Awards for the novella The Mountains of Mourning. Cordwainer Smith, Randall Garrett, P.G. Wodehouse, Diana Wynne Jones, Edward Gorey. Also lately, the trilogy beginning with The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. Lots more... |

Heroes:Fire fighters, EMT folks everywhere. Although I'd rather not meet them in the line of their business, come to think. Among SF writers I admired, the late Poul Anderson comes high on the list of people I wouldn't mind emulating; quiet, writing to the end, seeming to have struck an enviable balance between a productive career and a warm personal life, rich in family and friends. Not precisely a hero, but someone of whom one might say, "Yes, waiter, bring me a life like that person is having..." |
