About Me

Global StretchThe Global StretchNASHVILLE, TN - The Global Stretch sponsors shows to benefit IDAAC. Integrated Development and AIDS Concern is a community-based NGO in eastern Uganda. IDAAC’s central goal is to help those people affected by HIV/AIDS to cope under extreme socio-economic challenges.
The Global Stretch Benefit will be raising money for IDAAC (Integrated Development and AIDS Concern), a community-based NGO in eastern Uganda whose central goal is to help people in this area affected by HIV/AIDS cope under extreme socio-economic challenges. This not only includes testing, counseling, and educational programs directed towards prevention and living positively with HIV/AIDS.
Though IDAAC's central location is in Iganga town within the district of Iganga, it reaches out to the Bugiri and Mayuga districts as well, thus positioning itself strategically to monitor that the poor with HIV/AIDS benefit from the available local resources within these neighboring districts.
IDAAC has trained and initiated agricultural development within various communities in these three districts to improve household income and nutrition. They have helped other community members develop practical vocational skills in carpentry, tailoring, brick laying, computer skills, and hairdressing, for their own survival and self-reliance.
While IDAAC has been able to help many, their remote location in Eastern Uganda and the overwhelming need due to extreme poverty, and the problems that come with HIV/AIDS, leave them continually struggling to help even a small fraction of those who could benefit from their skills, experience, and compassion.
In IDAAC's 2004 Annual Report, friend and IDAAC's Program Manager Reverend Jackson Muteeba explains that although IDAAC has faced many challenges they remain positive and undaunted. He says, "For us in IDAAC, we have taken all the challenges to be a teaching in our midst thus enriching the enormous experience that we are proud of. We shall remain committed to our motto, "Offering People Hope and Facilitating Development" and we look forward to strengthening existing partnerships in this struggle but also opening our arms to welcome any new partners in our work."
This is where The Global Stretch comes in. IDAAC has and will continue provide their services and keep their commitment to the people of Eastern Uganda (so far, an almost fifteen year commitment!) However, without some financial support they will struggle to help even a small fraction of those in need.
