Ask anyone who listens to metal and they will probably tell you that over time, their musical scope has expanded to encompass other bands. But what happens when you realise you haven't evolved enough? Do you force changes upon yourself and try to discover whats missing from your arsenal of sonic weaponry? Or Do you, perhaps rightly so, fear the necessary changes and stagnate in your own inability to evolve yourself? I wish I didn't have to ask that question so early on in the day with a severe lack of caffeine in my system, but here, before me, is the tale of INFRACTOR, a Birmingham solo project turned viable band, and its demanding my attention dammit! It all started when H.O.S.T.I.L.E. vocalist SLAG (lovely name!) set himself the task of answering that very question. He had become disillusioned by the stagnation that was setting in within his own scene. Taking a bold step, he set about reinventing his musical outpourings, taking influence from the heavy end of European metal's elite. Throwing components from each into a vast cooking pot and brewing them into a wicked concoction combining the Speed, Melody and Power of those bands, Slag gave birth to his project, confident in its ability to stand upon its own, head and shoulders above anything he had previously created. Email address: Confirm email: DRAG THE LAKE Who do you think is the best UK band (other than yourselves) you've played with this year? GARY - Probably LORDAERON from Derby are awesome. DAOR, SANZEN, STRAIN,MILLICENT GROVE, deserve a mention too. BEN – I would say LORDAERON, they are awesome. We are doing some more dates with them in Feb. I also like ILLUMINATUS a lot too. TONE - There's far too many to just give 1 Band cos we've played with a hell of alot of good Bands from all over the Uk! It might sound like I'm trying to skirt around the Issue but there's a lot of Talent in the Uk signed and unsigned so it's near on impossible to pick just one sole Band. MUL – LORDAERON……….. If tomorrow you were offered £1 Million each to sign a record deal, but you had to change to play songs written by some famous record producer, what would you do? BE HONEST! GARY - Yes.....Of course.... thats the only reason we are doing it...X- Factor here we come. I am probably the only one as well who answered that one with a yes.. BEN – Yep I would sell out, who wouldn’t for £1 million each!!! TONE - I'd outright say NO FUCKING WAY! I wouldn't be able to live with Myself. Don't get me wrong the money would be nice but not at the price of my Dignity. MUL – Fuck Yeah…. You’d be a cunt not too What would be your record label of choice? GARY - Relapse Records, K-tel, Polymor Records BEN – Don’t really know, somebody I could trust!! TONE - Another Tough one, Maybe Nuclear Blast or Metal Blade. MUL – Nuclear Blast What Advice would you give to aspiring bands? GARY - Dont do it...... no seriously though.... Dont do it... BEN – Be nice to everyone on your way up, because if your not, on the way back down the same people will kick you in the teeth! TONE - Take your time & believe in yourselves. MUL – Quit and go to school….make sure you eat your greens, say your prayers….. Finally, What do you want for Christmas! (Not that I'm gonna buy it for you but, well, someone might!) GARY - A new Drummer....Wink BEN – A PS3! Or a real lightsaber!! TONE - A Black Machine 7 string Guitar, Mesa Dual Rectifier, Engl Powerball, Se 670 & Invader. MUL – Bring home the Irish army from the brutal conflict in Switzerland….
