| During the past three years teenage reeds player Amy Roberts, from West Cornwall, has featured at jazz festivals throughout the UK. She has toured with youth bands to California (twice) and Northern Italy, and, made her first visit to New Orleans during Mardi Gras last year. With the Helston School Jazz Orchestra Amy took part in the regional rounds and national finals of the National Concert Band Festival, where in 2006 they were acknowledged as the best School Jazz Orchestra in the UK! (www.hsjo.co.uk) Amy is currently in her first of four years studying classical saxophone at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
She has launched her own band in which she plays clarinet, saxes and flute. Amy will be appearing as a guest and with her own band at various jazz festivals and clubs this year. See gig list above. Sounds Like: The All Star Band is based on the New Orleans Jazz sound, although we cover a range of music, from "Singing the Blues" Bix Beiderbecke/Frankie Trumbauer to Ragtime to more mainstream numbers.
