Italiano Il progetto Melencolia nasce dalle menti dei milanesi Giovanni Lonati e Luca Barbaglia, il primo influenzato dalla musica classica e dai suoi studi da pianista, l'altro già coinvolto in vari progetti rock. La trasposizione in musica di una storia ideata da Francesca Pintaudi permette di creare le prime canzoni. Così, il 20 novembre 2005 nascono i Kreidesterne. La formazione originale vedeva Crabastra (Francesca Pintaudi), soprano lirico, come cantante solista, Bigio (Daniele Bigioggero) alla batteria, Luca Barbaglia alla chitarra, Giovanni Lonati alle tastiere, con la successiva aggiunta di Matteo Marchetti al basso a completamento della line-up con la quale viene registrata la prima demo "Kreidesterne", nel marzo del 2006. Dopo diversi cambi di lineup, e l'apparizione della band in eventi live in vari locali milanesi (Rolling Stone, Indian's Saloon...), gli attuali componenti sono Lonati, Marchetti e Barbaglia con l'aggiunta, alla batteria, di Giulio La Ferla, già formatosi nella scena black metal underground milanese e, come voce solista, di Eva Marti, mezzosoprano lirico. Con questa nuova formazione i Melencolia tornano in studio nel dicembre 2006 per registrare ex-novo le tracce della demo, alla quale si aggiunge la traccia "Slaughter". Nei mesi successivi i Melencolia partecipano al concorso DreamWave 2007, promosso dalla DreamLive, accedendo alla finale nazionale, e nelle sedi dei vari concerti (Zoe Club, ancora l'Indian's Saloon, il nuovo Legend 54 nella data dell'inaugurazione) presentano nuovi pezzi: "Circus" e "Flames of My Discontent", che vengono poi registrati in studio nel giugno 2007, nell'ottica di rendere finalmente completo il demo. I Melencolia proseguono la loro attività dal vivo e in studio, alla ricerca di nuove sonorità e di nuovi spazi per esprimere la propria proposta musicale, a cavallo tra gothic metal, rock sperimentale e lirica. English The Melencolia project is originally a creation of Giovanni Lonati and Luca Barbaglia. The first brought his experience as a classical pianist, the latter his rock imprint. A story by Francesca Pintaudi and its transposition in musical and lyrical form sparked the creation of the first songs. Thus, on November 20th, 2005, the moniker Kreidesterne was born. The original lineup included Crabastra (Francesca Pintaudi), a classical soprano, on lead vocals; Bigio (Daniele Bigioggero) behind the drumset; Luca Barbaglia (guitar); Giovanni Lonati (keyboards); and finally, Matteo Marchetti (bass). The band's efforts resulted into the recording of its first demo, "Kreidesterne", in March 2006. After experiencing several lineup changes, and appearing in various live performances, the current incarnation of Melencolia consists of Lonati, Marchetti and Barbaglia, still in their respective roles; classical mezzosoprano Eva Marti on lead vocals and Giulio La Ferla on drums. With this lineup the band returned to the studio, to record anew and from scratch the March demo tracks, including "Slaughter". In the following months, Melencolia performed live at the DreamWave 2007 contest, promoted by DreamLive, going through the eliminatories and getting to the national finals, all the while presenting new tracks ("Circus" and "Flames of My Discontent"), that are then recorded and mastered in June 2007, to achieve completion of the "Kreidesterne" demo. Melencolia continue their live and studio activity, pursuing new sounds and spaces to express their musical attitude, ranging from gothic metal to experimental rock and classical atmospheres.
