Cornerstone - an emerging, ambitious Austrian band, marking the calming influence in between the prevailing Pop-Mainstream and the rebellious riot produced by the revived Britpop movement. With their music, a mixture of Indie-Rock and tuneful Pop-elements, Cornerstone knows how to capture it’s fascinated audience. The foursome created their unmistakable sound, a conglomerate of Anja Schirmer’s passionate singing, Stefan Wachelhofer’s clangour of rock-guitar, Michael Wachelhofer’s melodic bass tunes, as well as Hannah Wachter’s fundamental and dynamic way of playing the drums. Live Cornerstone presents their pure and authentic music, walking the line between dreamily ballads and screeching, impulsive songs with a densed blend of grunge-guitars and drums. Meanwhile the band has convinced with musically above average live-performances as well as their debut-album "Whatever", which is available in stores since 04/15/2008. By the way: Mastering of the album has been done trough Arnie Acosta, Grammy-Award winner and longtime-Masteringengineer of U2. Milestone in the band’s career is without doubt the year 2007: Appearances at the "Art&Fun Festival" in Carinthia together with Gary Howard (Flying Pickets), and Dave Dee (Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mich & Tich), as well at the "Spirit Of Woodstock Festival" in Mirapuri (Italy), one of the largest open air concerts in Europe, and the airplay and a No. 1 on Radio7. The highlight of this extremely successful year was the signing of a Record-Deal with the American label Renaissance Record. This company has signed some well-known artists, e.g. Asia, members of Manfred Mann and Alan Parsons Project, T'Pau, early recordings of Shania Twain, etc. In 2008 the band is already played on several radiostations in the U.S.A. and wins as a result of their growing recognition the "Next Big Thing - contest hosted by Alternative Addiction (U.S.A.).
