Or as my mom likes to call me: A dirty H.O.R. for short. My Vietnamese name is Hieu which means noble and free. I'm a Pisces: I have been blessed with a keen sense of intuition like Jewel. (What happened to her?) BIO: Born a "Poor Black Child" but of Vietnamese American descent, the "Tran Man" was raised in ghettos of Riverside, California and projects of Tucson, Arizona. In his youth, his goal was to be the first Vietnamese American rapper naming himself MC Tranny Tran. Not until years later did he find out what the word "tranny" meant. To stay true to his name, he decided to get an operation to stay true to the game. In the meantime, he would slang rocks for money. Not understanding what 'rocks' really meant, he tried to sell actual rocks, which is why he stayed a 'poor black child' for many years to come. He went on to study Marketing/Advertising and Management Information Systems at the University of Arizona. With his double major, he now knows how to make a flyer and turn on the computer. When it comes to film and writing, Donny is for the most part self-taught. It was 'Shorty' from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom that would become one of his biggest influence. He still sheds a tear every time he hears 'You cheat Docta Jones' and 'No time for love Docta Jones' as it reminds me of his youth and his only role model growing up: Whats his face who was also played DATA from the GOONIES. Yea that kid ruled. Later in life, he would also get to meet his boyhood idol of 21 Jump Street Fame: Dustin Nguyen. The Man. The Myth. The Legend. The only Vietnamese name in Hollywood after 20 years. Sad. As a young boy, Donny's father would let him use his camcorder which he used to make numerous short movies including, 'Get off your ass and do something'. After finishing college, Donny worked at different advertising agencies, as a producer of Fox Sport's "The Big Show with Jim Donovan" (co-writing the classic 'Ilgauskas' skit and bringing in Jazz Great Mark Eaton who reminded us about the 'art of the block shot'). While working at an ad firm one day during rush hour in Los Angles, he and his cousin decided they had enough of 'selling their soul in advertising....for now...until they run out of money and get back into it' so they took off to study art in Florence, Italy. There he studied: * Italian Cinema * Serigraphy/Silk Screening * Graphic Design * Black/White Photography * Illustration * What was the deal with Soccer As Donny returned to the US, his highschool Argentinan friend Sebastian Lopez-Tonazzi, music video director extraordinaire, asked him to write a script for his pilot show "Los Charros". From then on, the TranTonazzi duo went on to make great masterpieces such as the novela "Modelos&Cueros" and the comedy "Get Ripped". The duo created a music video show called "DOSIS" which aired more then 40 episodes on Telemundo and Azteka America, which helped to promote local Artists. The TranTonazzi duo is currently working on a new webisode. In his spare time, he likes to waste all his money in traveling. He has visited Vietnam 4x, Cancun, Florence, Venice, Rome, Paris, London, Barcelona, Madrid and places in Canada. He currently resides in Southern California and Tucson, Arizona. He plans to travel to lots of places and do lots of things. |
