She hails from Oakland, California home of pop-soul music sensation Keyshia Cole and legendary rapper Tupac Shakur. Strictly roots, Sista Cassie’s music infuses Jazz, soul, and at times Hip-hop, into Reggae music with stunning effect. The sounds mingle, creating something fresh yet reminiscent of the past.“I am writing music everyday I am more committed and maybe a little addicted.“ Sista Cassie started singing as a child in choir and was a member of an R&B group for a few years. She has experience as a back-up singer and opened shows for many artists including, Sizzla Kalongi and Everton Blender. Her musical resume expands to include membership in, Royal Fyah Family, an all woman Reggae Music sound system in California.“Sisterhood, womanology- Rastafaria Empress, without apology” Music is just one aspect of Sista Cassie’s expression of her Rastafarian lifestyle. She has partnered with a close friend to create a foundation to help at risk girls in Jamaica and abroad. She calls this project their “baby” she writes, “We intend to do something to help the crisis of lack of direction, poor self-esteem, and exploitation of our young sisters, when you think you can’t do everything that does not mean you should do nothing.”“Too Blessed to be stressed, life of an Empress” Presently, Sista Cassie spends most of her time in Jamaica, where she has family and friends , writing and producing music. Her current projects includes a soon to be released tune with mega recording artist, Lutan Fyah, titled “On top of the World”. She is also working on her first album. Sista Cassie has a global perspective in her music and is excited to be recording one of her tunes in Spanish. She also will appear at several shows Reggae in Europe scheduled for March 2009.
