Deutsch: Der Begriff "Elektro“ hat sich vermutlich bei den meisten Stilrichtungen unabhängig voneinander durchgesetzt, um sich von traditionell instrumentierten Richtungen abzugrenzen und das Element der elektronischen Klangerzeugung zu betonen. "Musikanten" zogen als freies fahrendes Volk von Stadt zu Stadt und spielten zum Tanze auf. Sich zu Gruppen verbündende "Musikanten" sind die Vorläufer späterer Theathergruppen, welche wiederum Vorläufer von modernen Bands sind. Der Begriff Musikant ist seit etwa 1600 belegt und deutlich älter als der um 1800 entstandene Begriff des Musikers, der ausgebildet und beruflich Musik ausübt. Er beschreibt den Übergang von fahrenden zum ehrbahren Musiker.
