Backstage Pass - Best Band in Arizona New Times - Best Rock Band - Reader's Choice Fastlane Magazine - Fastest Rising Band Whiskey Blu, Phoenix’s award winning All Female Hard Rock act launched in the early 90’s. Managed by Rock-On Productions (Boston, Phoenix, LA) these hard working girls immediately tore up the club circuit throughout the southwest and the radio waves far beyond. In their first year alone the band performed 180 shows and won many awards. Packing houses wherever they played, club owners knew booking Whiskey Blu to open up for major label headliners would surely bring in the crowd. Along with their hugely popular originals, the girls won over skeptical crowds with their dead-on covers of such artists as JUDAS PRIEST, JOAN JETT, AEROSMITH, KISS, MOTLEY CRUE, THE CULT, LED ZEPPELIN, FASTER PUSSYCAT, KISS and their show-stopping, fan favorite, killer version of METALLICA'S "ENTER SANDMAN"!! Whiskey Blu opened for many major label acts where, in some cases, they stole the show! With fan clubs in 28 states and 9 countries Whiskey Blu was kicking ass and takin’ names! With the outbreak of the Desert Storm war in the Gulf, their manager, Bob Donovan, wrote the lyrics to one of their most popular songs – “Desert Storm.” The girls were in the middle of recording when the lyrics were presented to the band. They went home that night, wrote their parts, came to the studio the following day, worked it out and recorded it that evening! It was played throughout the southwest as well as on Armed Forces Radio. The girls were asked to perform at the San Diego Navel Air Station for the returning troops – Perform they did! A sold out crowd of 2,000 returning servicemen and women and one of the best shows the girls ever performed. Just as the band’s career was exploding, including a personal request for a reuinion from David Geffen, a combination of a bad publicist and a lying/cheating record label screwed the band over and broke their morale. The girls decided to take a break from the fast lane and go their separate ways for a while. The Women of Whiskey are currently on hiatus, working on their own projects: some musical, some just experiencing some quiet life. The band's local fame has never really died down, and to this day, people still request songs from Whiskey Blu and local music magazines still get letters for more information and urging the girls to reunite for at least one more show! Currently we're working with a lot of "lost recordings" including music and video footage - you asked for it and you'll get it: Bootleg Blu.
