| Bajo el nombre de Bomb Bass Hi-Fi se esconde el trabajo de Fran Leiva por la difusión de la música jamaicana en las pistas de baile. Alicantino afincado en Bilbao, inició su labor tras los platos a finales de los 90’ con el nombre de Papa Fran, lo suyo era el ska con concesiones al reggae.
En el 2000 comienza el periodo Bomb Bass abriendo su maleta a las últimas tendencias y creando una personal combinación del espectro musical que engloba el reggae: Roots Reggae, UK Steppers & Dub, 80’s Dancehall, Digital o New Roots; sin olvidar Ska o Rocksteady. Todo ello enriquecido con Dubplates/Specials (exclusivos) de artistas fundamentales jamaicanos y estatales. Sus sesiones combinan la pasión del coleccionista de foundation (oldies) con un verdadero seguimiento de las últimas producciones europeas y jamaicanas. Fórmula que ha desarrollado en diversos clubs, festivales y salas del País Vasco, Cantabria, Valencia, Barcelona, Alicante, Tenerife, Granada, Marbella, Guadalajara… y especialmente como residente en la sala Black Fever de Fever Club (Bilbao); donde también programa.
Todo este trabajo le ha llevado a compartir cartel con numerosos artistas destacados en el panorama nacional e internacional (The Abyssinians, Black Uhuru, U Roy, Sizzla, Junior Murvin, King Kong, Keny Knotts, BDF, Alpheus, Lone Ark, The Trojans, ASPO, Ambassah’ & Dub Generation, 12 Tribu, Heartical Sound, Soul Stereo, Stereotone, One Blood, Massive Sound, Jah Ras Sound Sytem y un largo etcétera). El formato Sound System original jamaicano se compone de un selector/pinchadiscos y un mc/cantante. BB Hi-Fi ha pinchado riddims para artistas internacionales como Earl 16 (Jam), Afrikan Simba (UK) o Ras Daniel Ray(Jam). Aunque es más fácil encontrarlo con Nano Bravo (Val), Ben-Jammin (UK) y especialmente con R. Sanchez (www.myspace.com/loneark, Lone Ark, A-Lone Productions, BDF, Super Ape, Loud & Lone, etc) con quien comparte escenario desde hace más de 6 años. Relación que también se expresa en las sesiones de BBHF a través de Specials de A-Lone Productions. |
