Get your own map at hit2map.com Welcome to “Character’s World.” My name is Marco, and I was born in Acapulco Mexico to a family of political figures who had been actively involved in the political spectrum of the state of Guerrero. After the people’s revolution in Acapulco, my family began to take higher positions of power. The revolution would bring me to widen my perspectives, and enable me to see the world from a totally different perspective. Throughout my childhood, I was constantly fascinated by the constant changes in the international community, waiting to understand and explore the causes and effects of current and future human interactions. During my teenage years I began to listen to the “World News” and reading internationally recognized journals and magazines. Living in Acapulco before attending UCLA made me want to understand how “population dynamics” like fertility and mortality trends, health and disease, migration and immigration affect economic growth, political stability, and social welfare in the most underdeveloped countries. This has brought me to understand that diplomacy is currently changing. Diplomacy faces new challenges to international economic and political security from poverty, poor health care and education, urbanization, aging populations among our closest allies in the West, and rapid population growth among developing countries. Today, we have to understand the political and economic implications of unstable governments offering little opportunity to their young and rapidly growing populations. Even more, we have to understand the effect of regional economic migration trends on nations’ political and economic stability and economic and security problems created by poor health care infrastructures and infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS.Completing my Bachelors at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has given me the tools to analyze these issues in my professional life and has ultimately me more passionate about improving health care and education in order to promote political stability and economic growth in the poorest nations. My future career ambition is to find a suitable role within an international organization, such as the UN, ideally with a specific focus on assisting people who have been displaced due to civil conflict, war, famine or other natural disaster. In the near future, before going back to Mexico, I find my self teaching politics, writing criticisms, and going into publishing a book which I will call; “Culture as a Source of Power.”In terms of international experience, I have worked closely with Mexico’s Political Anti-Corruption & Terrorism Division, where I helped gather information to formulate policy in order to combat terrorism in the city of Mexico, and in the state of Najarit where I helped determine the impact of policy cost and implementation.My revival interest in the study of Politics goes back to my early days at Los Angeles City College. I was captivated by the study of “Early Western Institution,” Fueled by powerful debate and enthusiastic teaching, my interest developed even more. My interest in the development of Western Institutions has further pushed my interest in international development, and nationalism. In the realm of politics, I have developed special interest in the field of International Relations and have been taking different courses, which reflect its historical background, and importance. I am particularly fascinated by the relationship that exist between governments, for example the position that the U.S. adopts on foreign policy. In addition, I am interested in the role of the United Nations as a global authority, the process of conflict resolution and the alliances that governments form to take international measure.The 40 units, which I took during the fall semester 2002 made my interest in politics, grow even more. By being able to complete this intense load of work I was able to set a new world record in education. “La Opinion” newspaper recognized this historical accomplishment, and published my biography on their June 23, 2003 edition. I found the fall 2002 intensive work load, an intellectual stimulation, and certainly a growing passion for academics. Studying ‘democracy’ has increased my knowledge of political matters and enabled me to defend my views in different controversial subjects, such as “Arms Control,” and “Terrorism.” Studying Political Science, and International Development as disciplines at the University of California, has allowed me to understand both the economic and urban developments of nations, as well as policy implementations.Aside from academia, I have a strong passion for Religion and its impact on human behavior. During my university experience, I was involved with a group of religious professors that constantly imparted lectures on themes such as, political violence, terrorism, corruption, government, civil society, economic development, U.S. foreign policy, peace and war, bioethics, and arms control. My study of a double major in Political Science, and International Development Studies not only increased my awareness and interest in current affairs, but also led me to form political opinions of my own. For the past seven years I have developed a strong interest towards Jewish and Islamic studies and have greatly enjoyed debates on these topics. Upon studying economics, I found it to be a fascinating topic, especially since it complemented many of the political issues I had been interested in, such as the economic problems facing Nazi Germany for much of the inter-war period. I am especially interested in the politics of Germany during the Nazi era. On that particular topic I have found the “Rise and fall of the Third Reich,” by William Shirer to be of particular interest... Generate your own contact table! |
