| The young and experimental percussionist Joss Turnbull, born 1985, was influenced by world percussion instruments right from the beginning of his life. Led and inspired by his father Mike Turnbull he started by learning latin and oriental hand drums.He performs as a soloist since he is 17. He currently works with didgeridoo performer Ansgar M.- Stein , singer Thomas Clements and in Duo Doyra - art of frame drums with Nora Thiele .
2002 Joss Turnbull was invited by Dr. Masaru Emoto to give an opening concert for the world wide Congress of Water in Lichtenstein.
Furthermore Turnbull was supporting act from Trilok Gurtu, Hermann Kathans "Buschwerk" with Nippy Noya and Rüdiger Opermann.
Since 2005 he studied tonbak and played concerts with Mohammad Mortazavi . 2007 Joss was the youngest teacher at the International Frame Drum Festival Tamburi Mundi in Freiburg Germany.
This year Joss Turnbull was nominated by Cirque du Soleil for their new creation in Tokyo.
Since 2008 he teaches frame drums at the oriental music academy in Mannheim.
AUDIO - "Riqertytic" - is composed and played by Mike & Joss Turnbull. "Clements Turnbull" - improvisation with Thomas Clements, on Kalimba and voice and Joss Turnbull on vases and african udus. "Ocean" - is a solo piece played on an oceandrum. The track is available on the duo CD Regen , with Ansgar Stein, produced by Traumzeit Verlag, Germany. "Dancing Shadows" - is played with percussionist and photographer Olaf Plotz on Kalimba and Joss Turnbull on frame drums and voice. The spontaneous recordings are made in an ex- manufactury hall near Hamburg, the project of Olaf Plotz calls Alsen Klingt . "Puls" - is composed by Mohammd Mortazavi. It was recorded live in Werkstatt der Kulturen, Berlin/Germany. Joss Turnbull plays cajon and frame drums. "steeldrum, voice and megaphone" is improvised by Joss Turnbull on steeldrum and voice, Olaf Plotz plays with feedbacks from a megaphone. VIDEOS - The first clip is a solo collage on cajon, frame drum, tonbak, and riq. The second one shows a part of my non-traditional solo on iranien tonbak. The third video is played on a setup of cajon, darabuka, bongos and hihat.
