| J-Gruv was founded and created on September 24, 2004 in order to better serve the virtually non-existent nightlife of the entire Rio Grande Valley. Its founder, Joey M. decided to create a website to which he could promote the many different clubs he was associated with. Rather than promoting and passing out flyers for each individual club he worked for during the week, he decided to promote and pass out flyers for the J-Gruv website alone. This website was the first of its kind in the entire rio grande valley in which pictures, flyers, and information were posted for only J-GRUV weeklies, parties, and events. J-Gruv along with certain partners has been responsible for some of the most memorable weekly parties in the past few years: Friday Nights at SCALA, Tuesday nights at LIGHT LOUNGE, Wednesday nights at AK’S, Monday nights at MANGOS…ETC. From this point on, the little number of promoters, websites, and REGISTERED production companies has nearly tripled and has suddenly become one of the most competitive and vastly growing areas in the entire state. J-Gruv has nonetheless proven to be one of the strongest promotional forces keeping the valley going.
As for the electronic music scene in the valley, which was thought to be long gone, J-GRUV in conjunction with AUDIOTEK EVENTS has without a doubt, been solely responsible for bringing it back. J-GRUV and AUDIOTEK presented all of their events at club onyx in McAllen, which at the time was the only spot to see and hear the electronic sound of certain world class djs in the rio grande valley. With the growth and expansion of the RGV, every venue, promoter, and production team has decided to follow suit, and has continued to expand the electronic dance music scene by booking a vast array of dj’s from various areas around the globe. All of this competition, exposure, creativity, and of course thirst to make money, has made the RIO GRANDE VALLEY one of the nations premier and quickly growing nightlife areas in the world.
