Graffiti as art. 7000 distinct expressions. Remembering youth. Deep-seated prejudices. Iconic leaders and political figures. The fascination and curiosity we all have with our own image. Rude and crude text. Public personas. Isolation. Positive projection. A detailed world. The urge to leave a mark behind.I am inspired by graffiti; the way that it’s never finished, ever changing, always ongoing, built up over time in a continuous circle of vandalism that links past with present. My recent work explores and combines this common urge to leave a mark behind with a strong regard for the human face. Taking from street art I apply modern graffiti techniques, styles and concepts in combination with more traditional fine art methods of collage, painting and drawing to create strong, powerful and emotionally charged mixed media pieces.
