About Me |
|
| I started recording my first solo album in the late 90’s and finally released it March 6, 2005. After recording twenty seven tunes, I finally decided on eleven songs which make up KUDZU ANIMALS. People ask, “What is kudzu”? It’s a reference to the south I’m afraid. Here most everything along our highways is covered by an all consuming vine called kudzu. It has Japanese origins and was imported here in the 50’s to help control erosion along the roads. Like most foreign invaders, once it got here it quickly took over and started choking out the native vegetation. The irony is that in doing so beautiful animal shapes seem to emerge from it as it envelops trees, houses, old cars, and people (if they sit still long enough). Thus, the title for my album, KUDZU ANIMALS. It’s like seeing shapes in the clouds. It does take an imagination to see the animals (pine trees covered in kudzu most often resemble giraffes) but if you look hard enough an entire zoo will appear.
Presently I am recording my second solo album in New Port Richey, Florida with Bob Langford producing. Over the years Bob has recorded Joe South, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Joe Royal, Deep Purple and a host of others. Bob was the guy who recorded Skynyrd’s first album and most notably the song FREEBIRD. He engineered and mixed the song and album with Al Kooper producing. He is a legend and I am honored that he is working with me. I have been working with some local New Port Richey/Tampa musicians who bring a whole new sound to my music.
I'm also working on a batch of songs for another CD that's in the works called, "Hester's Letter." I'm recording that one in Atlanta, Georgia at Bruce Bennett Studios. It's a race to see which project I finish first...
Until then, have a listen to the four songs here from KUDZU ANIMALS and if you have a few coins to spare, go to Amazon or CD Baby and buy the CD... create & buy custom products at Zazzle |
