| 2008 Golden Guitar nominee Matt Scullion is one of a new breed of country singer/songwriters bringing a fresh new approach to the music he loves and according to Tim Daley from CMC (country music channel) he is an artist of the future in Australian country music, his songs resonate with fans and his performance generates true excitement.
From Nashville to Darwin, from Deli to Tamworth Matt has clocked up many frequent flyers and his songs reflect his lifestyle and experiences. Raised in the beautiful rural town of Milton on the NSW South Coast Matt began strumming in his early teens and quickly made the transition from backyard parties to professionally paid shows. Extensive touring of Australia and many trips overseas have seen Matt build a strong loyal following and with the recent signing to Sydney based record label Destra Entertainment Matt is definitely on the right track. Matt’s new 13 track album “Put It Down To Experience” was re-released this June to rave reviews and the four singles so far “Hard Earned Money” “Giddy Up”, “Feels Like Sunday” and the Latest “luckiest Man Alive” have all charted well. “Giddy Up” spent an amazing 4 ½ months in the CMC top 30 and has since become almost anthem like and been added to numerous country compilation albums including the top selling Bundy Country and Songs For My Ute CD’S. 2007 has been a very busy year for Matt with performances in the Middle East, Fiji, Ayres Rock and lots of Clubs, Pubs, Festivals, B&S’s and Rodeo’s in between with his band The Lost Moments. As well as winning the ICE award (Independent Country Entertainer) for best Country Rock Performance Matt was nominated for a Golden Guitar with his song “Hard Earned Money” which he wrote and recorded with his good friend and country music icon Lawrie Minson. Matt has had his songs recorded by the likes of Steve Forde, Shea Fisher, Jonahs Road, Tania Kernaghan and Indian cowboy Bobby Cash to name but a few and was a finalist in the Victorian country music and Music Oz awards.
