| ProgArchives Says- Spin XXI is a Brazilian band that is rooted in the Seventies and made history in the city Niterói. They played together in schools and amateur rock festivals. Spin (as they were then called) had a very special presentation by giving anthological gigs and sold out the Fluminense University Theater three times. They disbanded but later the members teamed up again some years under the name Contraponto. To complete the confusion a few years ago they regrouped as Spin XXI. Their debut CD entitled Contraponto was recorded between 2002 and 2006 and released in 2006! - The music is drenched in the symphonic prog tradition (references are O TERÇO, MUTANTES, GENESIS AND YES) but with a modern sound. The album contains four melodic, tasteful and elaborate compositions and you will find lots of fine and interesting musical ideas. The native vocals by Kakao Figueiredo are wonderful and very passionate with a slighty theatrical undertone.Musea Says:SPIN XXI is a Brazilian Progressive rock band born in the Seventies. Its debut album is only released today in 2006. Released by both Musea and Rock Symphony labels, "Contraponto" presents five long tracks in the great tradition of the South-American symphonic school, reaching about 45 minutes of music. The musicians show a true mastery and a playing level that is quite impressive, as they surf from one complex passage to another with desarming facility. You may think of YES listening to their sound and the composing, even if the voluble singing of the dramatic Figueiredo KAKAO can't make you forget that you're listening to an original work.
