JOE ZAWINUL (VIENNA, 7 LUGLIO 1932 – VIENNA, 11 SETTEMBRE 2007) Nel 1990 fonda i 'Crecason' (poi Neri per caso) Nel 1993 consegue il diploma di pianoforte presso il Conservatorio Statale di Salerno.Nel 1995 vince, con i Neri per caso, il festival di Sanremo nella categoria nuove proposte ed il Telegatto come rivelazione dell’anno. Il cd 'Le Ragazze', arrangiato e realizzato da Diego e Ciro Caravano, vende 700.000 copie ed .. candidato album dell’anno dalla Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (C.A.S.A.) Nel 1996 incide e firma l’arrangiamento vocale di 'Quando', sigla del film DISNEY 'IL GOBBO DI NOTREDAME' Nel 1997 la sua White Christmas (dall’album 'and so this is christmas') .. fra i cinque nominati da C.A.S.A per la categoria best holiday song.Complessivamente dal 1995 al 2007 realizza con i Neri per caso 6 album per il mercato italiano e 3 per quello internazionale vendendo più di un milione di copie e prende parte a numerosi concerti e show televisivi.Nel 2001, inoltre, si aggiudica il primo disco d’oro in veste di produttore con l’album vocale dei Basix 'The Grass' per l’etichetta danese RECART(EMI).Svolge parallelamente un’intensa attività in qualità di pianista (Napoli Centrale, Trince) arrangiatore e polistrumentista, compositore di colonne sonore (per FILMAURO, EASY RECORDS) e di cantautore con il suo nuovo progetto di musica originale.Attualmente è impegnato nella produzione del nuovo disco dei NERI PER CASO e nella direzione del coro polifonico di musica leggera (VOCALAB) presso il SAINT LOUIS COLLEGE OF MUSIC di Roma. In 1990 Diego Caravano founded the “Crecason” (later Neri Per Caso). In 1993 he took his piano diploma at the Conservatorio Statale in Salerno. In 1995, with Neri Per Caso, he won the Sanremo Festival in the “new proposals” category and the Telegatto Award as the revelation of the year. The “Le Ragazze” CD, arranged and produced by Diego and Ciro Caravano, sold 700,000 copies and was nominee for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (C.A.S.A.) as album of the year. In 1996 he signed the vocal arrangement for “Quando”, the theme song of the Disney film “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. In 1997 the version of “White Christmas” (from the album “And so this is Christmas”) was among the five C.A.S.A ‘s nominees for the best holiday songs. Altogether, between 1995 and 2007, he made with NPC 6 albums for the Italian market and 3 for the international one, selling more than a million copies, meanwhile taking part in numerous concerts and TV shows. In 2001, moreover, he wan his first gold record as producer of the vocal album “The Grass” of the Basix (Danish label Recart -EMI). At the same time, he was extremely busy as pianist (“Napoli Centrale”, “Trince”), arranger and multi-instrumental player, composer of soundtracks and as a singer-songwriter on his new project of original music.
