I'm the author of "The Prettiest Star: Whatever Happened To Brett Smiley?," "The One and Only: Peter Perrett, Homme Fatale," "Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood," and "The New York Dolls: Too Much Too Soon."

Nina Antonia: Official Website

"The Prettiest Star: Whatever Happened To Brett Smiley?,"
The biographer of Johnny Thunders, New York Dolls and Peter Perrett turns her attention to the heyday of glam rock. As a timid teenager, Antonia weaves her childhood memories of growing up as a glam-obsessed girl in Liverpool, to the time she actually got to meet her idols-Iggy, Thunders et al. A provocative girl's eye view of the boys in make-up.

"The One and Only: Peter Perrett - Homme Fatale"
is Nina Antonia's revealing look at Peter Perrett, leader of Britain's Only Ones--a highly respected musician and songwriter who seemed destined for great things. The book traces his life through his rise into pop stardom to his later dissipation from drug abuse, and ultimate fate as a reclusive rock casualty. Antonia provides a gripping account of a major talent who never quite made it.

"The New York Dolls: Too Much Too Soon" is the inside story of that raucous and rude bunch known as the New York Dolls. Author Nina Antonia provides the first in-depth look into the legendary glam rock band that took New York City by storm in the early 1970's with their outrageous look and raw, uncompromising sound. The Dolls legacy is part of popular culture today as they influenced everyone from the Sex Pistols to Guns N' Roses. And their amazing story is in turns compelling, funny and sad.

"Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood" is Nina Antonia's updated version of her original Thunders bio--first published in the 1980's. This edition of the book begins with the unlikely transformation of childhood baseball prodigy Johnny Genzale into teen guitar hero Johnny Thunders--co-fronting the brilliant New York Dolls with flamboyant vocalist David Johansen and snagging a deal with a major record label. Antonia also delves into Thunders later work with the Heartbreakers and his solo efforts. Thunders drug abuse, and his sad ultimate demise, are examined closely, as well. In addition, the book contains many excellent photographs of Thunders onstage and off. "Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood" is a must-read for Thunders/Dolls fans, and anyone who loves rock'n'roll.
