About Me |
|
| I was born in Munich, Germany in '83 and started playing the guitar at the age of thirteen. I was lucky to have an environment around me that is full of music, especially my school. I always played a lot of music, first classical flute and then classical and electric guitar and piano. At the age of fourteen I got into Jazz which is my passion eversince. It's great to perform, and I really enjoy interacting with people. In the year 2005 I composed, produced and performed the Theme Songs for two movies of the German production company "Bavaria" that were showing in theaters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. From 2004 to 2007, after being granted a scholarship, I studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and recieved a Bacherlor's Degree "summa cum laude" in Performance. At the college I had the chance to study with some of the finest jazz musicians and educators that are on the planet today. Among them Hal Crook, Joe Lovano, Mick Goodrick, Mitch Haupers, Greg Hopkins, Tim Miller, Tiger Okoshi and Dave Santoro. But what was almost more valuable are all the the great students that I had the chance to perform with and learn from; I met so many people from allover the world, with whom a shared incredible musical journeys and experiences. Besides Jazz I also play a lot of traditional and modern Brazilian Music. In September 2007 I moved to the "jazz capital" NYC to play and hear lots of great music. I have formed a new quartet with Lars Haake(sax), Takashi Sugawa (b) and Matty Alger(dr) with whom I am playing lots of my new, NY-inspired compositions (as heard here). I also play duo (and trio) with the great singer Juahn Cabrera. We play many different styles (Jazz, Bossa, Latin, Pop) in an acoustic setting (check out "Pena"). For booking or any questions please contact me here on myspace or at eliasguitar@yahoo.de - I hope you enjoy the music!
