| It all began with an idea. Leavin Ruston founder Bobby McClendon thought it would be a good idea to put together a group of local musicians from different bands for a "Battle of the Bands" competition that was coming up. Great idea, but would it work? Bobby pitched the idea to several of his musician friends. The opportunity to play this show together was too much for any of them to pass up, thus, Leavin Ruston was born. The "Battle of the Bands" contest went off better than expected. With such a large crowd response, offers for jobs started coming in right away (and this was supposed to be a one time show!!). The band members decided to stay together to see where the future roads would take them. So far it's been a fun ride.Leavin Ruston consists of Bobby McClendon on lead vocals, Steve Cano on guitar and vocals, Alex Munoz on guitar and vocals, Pepper on drums and vocals, Jose Alvarez on bass guitar. This group of musicians has over 95 years of professional music experience between them.Collectively, these musicians have played in bands that have opened for: Craig Morgan, Joe Diffie, Montgomery Gentry, Rick Trevino, Eric Heatherly, Merle Haggard, Jo Dee Messina, Sammy Kershaw, Lori Morgan, Gretchen Wilson, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts to name a few ( not to mention several stints on the main stage at Country Thunder USA).Leavin Ruston has a sound that is like a cross between Chris LeDoux and AC/DC. Hard Country Rock with a few buckle shiners thrown in sums it up.
