RED SUN RED SUN, founded by Diego Carreño in the bass and Giovanny Manjarres in the drums, has the purpose of creating an outstanding sound that could dominate the heaviness, rapidness and techniques needed to create a project that fits the description of what we call “progressive rock”. Diego and Giovanny have dedicated their lives to the study of rhythmic and harmonic bases of great bands such as Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, and other rock icons of the progressive genre. In order to strengthen the impact of their performance, Diego traveled to the U.S and equipped himself with several professional instruments, such as MAPEX, SABIAN, AMPEG, YAMAHA JAPAN, and LINE 6. In spite of the opportunity of getting all of these instruments, Diego felt a lof of frustration with the fact that, while overseas, he was not playing on a regular basis and there was not a sense of belonging to a band. Upon his return to Colombia, in December of 2006, he met with Giovanny and decided to launch a new project -- Having the appropriate instruments was not an issue anymore, therefore, they could envision more challenging goals -- This time, the tasks at hand were to create a new sound based on today bands like Tool, a perfect circle, Disturbed, among others… Now, RED SUN, a band with serious aspirations to revolution the history of Colombian, south American and worldwide rock was ready to born. For a long time, they auditioned a great number of musicians for the lead guitar and vocals. In the middle of the recruiting process, Andres Rosales (guitarist) came to the rehearsal room. It was obvious to them that Andres was a perfect match. Nonetheless, the vocalist was still a missing piece. Coincidentally, Andrés had a band with Juan Pablo Angarita, and both of them shared the same story as Diego and Giovanny´s one.. For many years they worked together, searching for the chance to find well adjusted elements, as well as dedicated and talented musicians to whom they could connect with. Once Diego and Giovanny heard about this and went through several auditions with Juan, it was reassuring to know that the team had been consolidated. RED SUN was no longer a dream, it was real. The magic, mystique, power, and explosion of RED SUN begun the same day in which the four of them got together (march of 2007). Since that day, their only purpose has been to create the sun that for always would enlighten Rock worldwide. RED SUN made its first preproduction in March of 2007. It counts with 3 themes charged with energy, and is ellaborated with rhythms and shades that ranges from ballad rock to the progressive metal.
