As the magazine evolved into a respected national publication, Gore relocated to Los Angeles in 1989. The magazine received national attention for its coverage of cult films, midnight movies and underground shorts before the market even emerged. Film Threat was the first mag to cover people like Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs). After over a decade of covering cult films, underground shorts, alternative films and independent features, Film Threat the magazine was retired in 1997.
