| Ruth Kelly is a life-time community advocate who has dedicated her life to serving others. She works diligently in the classroom and in the neighborhood, preparing leaders for tomorrow and impacting the policy of today. Ruth’s roots as a local citizen run deep: born in Grand Rapid in 1953, she graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School, Grand Rapids Community College, Aquinas College and has a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Grand Valley State University. She has served on numerous local campaigns, and served as Crime Prevention Organizer and Community Organizer with Eastown Community Association, Baxter Neighborhood Association South East End Neighborhood Associations. She has been a public school educator for nearly 20 years, and currently teaches 6th grade at Riverside Elementary in the Second Ward. Three of Kelly’s adult children continue to live in the 2nd ward.
