CHIPZ DA GENERAL The Son of Hip-Hop Welcome to the world of Chipz Da General, born Shakir Seagers, Birthed in the Bronx. Chipz has been writing lyrics since the age 9. Encouraged.to flow by his big brother Cashes Klay, Chipz has developed a style all his own. In his early stages Chipz entered numerous street battles and showcases ripping anybody who stepped to the plate. It was then that Violator Records considered signing Chipz based solely on his battle skills alone but they felt he was too harsh for his age so the deal never happened. In his 21 years on this earth, Chipz has been through a lot of pain and struggles from losing his Mother at the early age of 5, his Grandfather immediately after, and his best-friend in his teens led him to make some poor choices. These poor choices in-turn led to a few run-ins with the law. He used these experiences to express to the world what he was feeling. After 5 years of interning at Source Magazine and receiving the guidance from it’s resourceful executives about the ins and outs of the industry Chipz has taken this knowledge along with the encouragement from sales and has stayed in the studio perfecting his craft. After years of observing the industry, Chipz began his own underground independent label, Skorch Records to promote his sound. After dropping his first mixtape (which moved 1500 units) Chipz has continued to push himself to the next level. He was featured as Artist of the Month on www.rapmullet.com (Oct 2006) and then nominated again in (Dec 2006), was the featured Artist Spotlight on www.defsounds.com (Dec 06'-Feb 07). He received major airplay on the following radio stations: in Chicago (BMS Radio), London (Talk Inc.Radio), North Carolina, D.C and Virginia. Chipz has performed at the legendary Apollo Theater and has also been featured on today's biggest station for unsigned artist to shine (Xm 66 Raw). Chipz has appeared on numerous mixtapes and also received a movie script to audition for the lead role.Chipz has excelled on other fronts as well as rapping. He is also getting much play as an urban model that can be seen in major advertisements such as in The Source Magazine for Def Jam University (June 05' & Dec 06'). In addition to modeling Chipz is also a freelance writer who has been published in the Source Magazine (April 05) and Foundation Magazine (Dec 06 2nd Issue). He has taken all his pain, all of his struggling throughout his lifetime and channeled it into his music. Rapping is his job, his wife, as well as his hobby. Chipz Da General will go to the grave with music in his heart.
