Sofa Beats was created by Michael Banel & Emok as a side label of Iboga. The chill out series “Floating Point” has released two chapters on the Iboga label - but Sofa Beats took over when part three was due out and it was felt needed to separate the styles into a sub label. Sofa Beats should be considered a playground for down tempo and ambient music in all thinkable variations. It’s like travelling through a dream where anything is possible to happen, in the depths of imagination. Sofa Beats started in 2005 with a full-length album from the Frenchman Stephane Holweck..s “Digital Mystery Tour” project, known from his involvements in projects like Total Eclipse & Juno Reactor. The albums name was D.M.T. Express. Secondly an album by the Danish duo “Oliver Jones” - Oliver well known for being part of "Reefer Decree" - was released in the beginning of 2006, together with the third chapter of Floating Point, compiled by Michael Banel. At the 5th of December in 2006, Danish producer and drummer Simon Jagd - aka - “Seahorse Transform” got an album release. The fourth chapter in the Floating Point compilation series, was released in June 2007 and was compiled by label DJ Dovla from Croatia. We have in the fall of 2007 released a wonderful album by Swedish “Krusseldorf” (Simon Heath). Also in november we have released our first digital download EP, by Koan, from Russia. The EP contains 3 tracks, all very wonderful pieces of music. Krusseldorf has previously released a down-tempo album on Sofa Beats on 2007 called “Smokers Lounge”, plus tracks on several compilations and digital download singles. Also to be found on Thermo Nuclear EP is two of the fine tracks from His “Smokers Lounge” album, namely “Death Notes & “Glugg”. Krusseldorf has also joined forces with Iboga Label head Michael Banel to collaborate on an album. The style there is a mixture of Techno, Trance and Chillout.
