Sounds Like: So..You Really Wanna Know how it Started Huh?... ABOUT UTG, DA UNTAMED GORILLAZ BIG P, born Pedro Jesus Belmontes started writing original music when he was just 15. His love for music grew through rhythm, feelings andlife itself! He says (that) "Hip hop is a Story told through a rhythm and each song represents a piece of an Artists life". With a positivemind, and an urge to spread his word through hip hop, BIG P began to distribute his music all around his school. It wasn't long before thewhole school had their eyes on him and the material being passed around. At the age of 16, while waiting backstage for his turn to come up, BIG P met DJ Pumba. It was through a freestyle cypher where Pumba wasbeatboxing that they met and exchanged numbers. Inevitably, BIG P and DJ Pumba started working together and it was then that Pumba becameBIG P's main producer. As both music partners and young independent business entrepreneurs; BIG P an DJ Pumba promoted their own labelcalled "UTG Entertainment". The word UTG was an acronym for UnTamed Gorillaz. They each attended seperate schools, which allowed them topromote themselves in different locations at once. "It was the love for music that lead us to burning over 800 CDs over a period of about 6months. We passed them out for free everywhere we went" says BIG P that at this time wouldn't leave the house without having a stack of CDsin his backpack ready to be passed out. At the age of 17, BIG P and DJ Pumba had the performance that got the Watsonville's attention once and for all. The venue was theWatsonville Mello Center which fit an estimated one thousand people. The place was sold out before showtime, leaving a huge line of peopleoutside of the doors, hoping they could have came in. It was that night that BIG P & DJ Pumba performed their now-known hit single"Sometimes". The crowd reaction was extreme as "UTG" was being chanted when BIG P & DJ Pumba came out to the stage that night. Upon goingup against 20 other talented acts, UTG came in first place. BIG Ps ability to express himself lyrically on a bouncy beat, is what seperates him from his competition. His unique delivery, recognizablevoice and creative punchlines truly reflect on the work he has been putting on for years. "..and when i write a song. I always have myway's of having a phrase stick out at you. My Goal is to have a powerful bar in each verse i write for which you will remember that wholesong by" says BIG P. Already having caught the attention of a few local radio stations, UTG, The Untamed Gorillaz will continue to strive for success in theirmusic career.
