Charley Boorman's message to Team UNICEF

UNICEF would like to congratulate and thank our runners, and thank everyone who supported Team UNICEF at the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday.

It was a fantastic day and you really did help to make the event a great success.

If you are interested in joining Team UNICEF in the 2009 Royal Parks Half Marathon, please email halfmarathon@unicef.org.uk for details, quoting 'Royal Parks 2009' in the subject line.

Fundraise for Emergencies

As you will have seen in the media, the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo has intensified over the last few days. Increased fighting in North Kivu has forced up to 100,000 people, including children, to flee their homes in the past week alone.
UNICEF has already supplied blankets and plastic sheeting, but we urgently need to raise more funds to protect children.
Find out more.

The tragic consequences of climate change for the world’s children

A UNICEF UK report launched in April 2008 - exactly ten years after the UK signed the Kyoto Protocol (on 29 April 1998) - reveals that the world’s poorest and most vulnerable children are being hit the hardest by the impact of climate change. The report, ‘Our climate, our children, our responsibility: the implications of climate change for the world’s children’ draws attention to the fact that climate change is impacting very seriously on children and their rights. It calls for immediate action from the UK Government to make children a priority in the climate change agenda and calls on UK companies to substantially reduce emissions and contribute to the costs of mitigating and adapting to climate change.
