After having studied at the Vienna Universitiy for Music and at the Folkwangcollege in Essen, where he earned his state-examen, he went on for private studies with Jerry Bergonzi in Boston, USA and with Werner Pöhlert in Bensheim, Germany. He then started his own successful music-career, which took him throughout Europe.Roots Reggae Festivals,Kieler Woche,Opernball Wien etc. A very special attraction at his concerts are his own arrangements of chinese Folkmusic: Chinese Reggae and Chinese Ska. Very special are his versions of well known Reggaesongs and his new created "Calypsoton"!YAMPAL – alias Thomas Nennstil wurde in Essen geboren. Nach Musikstudien in Wien (Hochschule für Musik ) und Essen (Folkwanghochschule), die er mit dem Staatsexamen abschloß, absolvierte er noch ein Privatstudium bei Jerry Bergonzi in Boston-USA und Werner Pöhlert in Bensheim-D..land . Danach startete er seine Musikkarriere, die ihn durch Europa führte.Seitdem fühlt er sich auf grossen Bühnen,bei Festivals, oder den Tennisopen Hamburg,Kieler Woche oder dem Wiener Opernball ebenso zu Hause wie in kleineren clubs. Seine Musik fällt aus dem gewohnten Rahmen.Das betrifft seine teils virtuosen,teils elegischen Interpretationen des von ihm selbst geschaffenen "chinese reggae". z.b. "caiyunzhuiyue-reggae".(das heisst Bunte Wolke folgt dem Mond),wie auch seine sehr individuellen Versionen bekannter Stücke wie:moliendo cafe als salsa-ska ,das arg strapazierte girl from ipanema als bossa-ska,oder rivers of babylon als reggae-ska. Es gibt eigenes,wie den Voodoo reggae,sowie Bearbeitungen von Desmond Dekker- und Bob Marley-songs.Z.B. "no woman no cry" in einer Reggae- Dub Version und als Neustes das Genre "Calypsoton". |
