| DAVID GREENBERG is a poet, songwriter and art critic. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1993 Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in English and a minor in Art History. In December of 1989, Greenberg met poet Allen Ginsberg in New York City. In 1991, Ginsberg introduced the young poet formally to literary establishment at the PEN America New Writers series. Greenberg published two chap book collections of verse that same year: Flesh and Astronomy. In 1994, Soft Skull Press published Feeling Gravity's Pull, a collection of poems. That same year, Greenberg founded the NYC indie rock band Pen Pal along with poet and drummer Mario Mezzacappa. Pen Pal released one album Best Boy on Evil Teen Records in 1996. Pen Pal at various times, collaborated with folk hip-hop singer-songwriter Beck, Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore of the band Sonic Youth and played on bills with poet Gregory Corso and singer Jeff Buckley. In addition to his poetry and music projects, David Greenberg has collaborated on numerous catalogues with artist Donald Baechler including 1998's Crowd Paintings (published by Lars Bohman Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden) and 2002's 15 Paintings, 15 Texts (published by Bend Kluser Gallery, Munich, Germany). Greenberg's essays on artists Patti Smith and Donald Baechler have appeared in PARKETT magazine, his writings on photographer Ryan McGinley, poet Gregory Corso and actor Leo Fitzpatrick appeared in the FADER magazine and an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir Love Buzz was published in Chapter 31 of FRANK. He currently writes for Art In America. In 2002, Greenberg founded the mad little gallery, a portable abstract space specializing in small-scale art works by major artists. He is the author of GRAVITY (poems 1993-2007) and the co-author of Strange Messenger: The Work of Patti Smith. In 1999, Greenberg teamed up with NYC producer Sisko to create the songwriting team Disco Pusher ..discopusher.com
