About Me

At the SETI Institute , we always listen. But sometimes we broadcast.
Subscribe to our podcast SETI:Science & Skepticism or download the show at http://radio.seti.org .
Are We Alone? is a one-hour, weekly dose of what's new in the search for life in the universe, thinking machines, and the future of humanity-as-we-know it.
The show is hosted by astronomer Seth Shostak and reporter Molly Bentley. The guests are as stellar as the Perseus arm.
The guest list ranges from science celebrities such as Richard Dawkins, Marvin Minsky, Paul Davies, Leon Letterman, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, and important authors - Dava Sobel, Charles Mann, Nicholas Wade. And NASA honchos, including astronauts. Once a month, we do a skepticism show, where we take on such popular preoccupations as astrology, Bigfoot, UFOs, etc. and subject them to the hard light of science.
It's fun, it's interesting, and it's fun. But only if you listen. (Did we mention that it's fun?)
For instance, did you know that the character of Count Dracula was very nearly played by an Austrian? An old wax cylinder recording captures Bram Stoker auditioning characters for inspiration...
