Sacred Sisters, is San Antonio, Texas based,and launched by creative, talented and compassionate women who seek to not only educate and entertain, but also to connect with other diverse women internationally. The primary goal of Sacred Sisters, both the website, myspace page and its founders, is to support and celebrate women who follow a spiritual path that strays from traditional patriarchal organized religious systems. Sacred Sisters Founder Yvette Parrish, locally known as Mambo La Reina, is the artist/creator of Divine Dolls and Vodou Spiritual Practioner. She offers spiritual guidance services as well. She, along with other major contributors, makes up the foundation of Sacred Sisters... and offers a range of inspirational mentoring services and takes pride in contributing to the spiritual community. Sacred Sisters invites all women to share their stories. Currently the founder and sisters are responsible for the content on this myspace page and soon to come website, which will include interviews and articles on health, beauty, nutrition, healing, exercise, mental and spiritual well-being and growth, and creative expression through the arts. | OUR FEATURED ARTIST and Sacred Sister JENNIFER from Lampwork Beads and Jewelry Artist's Bio: A little over two years ago I decided to try my hand at making lampwork glass beads. For those of you who don't know what "lampworking" is but would like to know, I'll explain. Lampworking is an age old practice dating back to ancient times. Glass is heated in a flame and then wound onto a metal mandrel to create a bead which is then in turn decorated with different colors to create an elaborate small piece of art. Glass bead making, AKA lampworking, is a trade and art form that is highly valued throughout the world. Now, two years after I melted my first rod of glass, I am thoroughly addicted to making glass beads and jewelry. So yes, whenever I get a free minute I'm in front of the flame, getting my face way too close~making my already "rosy" cheeks even more pink~and I try not to burn my eyebrows off my face!
