| Siobhan began singing professionally whilst still school in the West Country, appearing regularly as a soloist with the Bekynton Consort, specialising in Oratorio and Ancient music in venues from Wells Cathedral to Downside Abbey.Initially gaining a BA in Performance (Voice and Piano) at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Siobhan continued her training as a post graduate with Iris dell’Acqua at Trinity College of Music, London where she was awarded the Morag Noble Scholarship for Advanced Study. Since graduating she has appeared with several British opera companies including: British Youth Opera, Travelling Opera, Grange Park Opera and Pimlico Opera in roles which include Orlofsky, Fledermaus, Madam Larina, Onegin, Hansel, Hansel & Gretel, and Filipyevna, Onegin. She created the role of Old Beattie in the world premiere of Diana Burrell’s the Albatross, and the role of Euridice in the British premiere of Ambrosini’s Orfeo l’Ennissimo, with Trinity College of Music Opera Group and Spitalfields Opera. Siobhan was also runner-up in the International Soloist Competition at the International Eisteddfod, Llangollen.On the concert platform Siobhan has made regular appearances as a soloist with the London Orpheus Choir and Orchestra and Ealing Choral Society under the baton of James Gaddarn, with whom she has had a long-standing association; performing in Fairfield Halls, Croyden, St John’s Smith Square, London and St. Barnabus Church, Ealing in works that include: Mozart’s Missa Cellensis, Haydn Nelson Mass, Haydn St. Cecilia’s Mass, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and Bach Cantata BVW80 Ein Feste Berg ist unsere Gott. Siobhan recently took part in one of a series of farewell concerts with Ealing Choral Society to celebrate James Gaddarn’s retirement as Music Director from the Society after 40 years.With the sudden death of her father, Siobhan was forced to abandon performing in 2002. However, she eventually took the decision to re-train her voice and began working in earnest with her then teacher and former coach, William Hancox. This process of vocal re-education resulted in a far greater depth of understanding of her instrument as well as opening doors to new and exciting repertoire, leading to, amongst other things, a keen interest in the experimental.Siobhan is also particularly passionate about German Lied and in early 2007 gave her debut performance of Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder at St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, London. She most recently sang the role of 'Air’ in Kirsten Morrison's new Opera 'Flood' which was performed as part of the 2007 Grimeborn Festival at the Arcola Theatre, Dalston, London.In August, she will bring her own semi-staged version of Mahler's Kindertotenlieder to the Grimeborn Festival with the Baritone, Devon Harrison and acclaimed Performance & Cabaret Artiste, Dickie Beau.Siobhan is very happy to announce that she is studying, once again with Iris dell'Acqua. | |
